The Cabinet has approved a draft royal decree under the Financial Institution Business Act (the “FIBA”) to regulate the business of Hire Purchase and Leasing of Cars and Motorcycles operated by non-banks. Under the amendment to the Labour Protection Act which will become effective on 18 April 2023, agreements on remote working required to be in writing or in electronic format. Examples of key provisions are also provided. Furthermore, this amendment introduces the “right to disconnect”, which is the employee’s right to refuse any contact from the employer after the end of the normal working hours without prior written consent. The new notification on wage rate according to skill standard was recently published in the Royal Gazette. Under the notification, employees working in the prescribed 17 professions under industrial technology sector, mechanical sector and service industry sector will be entitled to receive wage rates based on their skill standards. The Office of the Consumer Protection Board has published the notification regarding guideline on advertising claims in the Royal Gazette, now already effective. The details in the notification are in line with the draft notification, including provisions on the characteristics of statements that can be used in advertising and guidelines, methods, and conditions for citing facts from reports, research results, statistics, and certification from institutions or agencies.
