The Personal Data Protection Committee has recently published a new notification regarding the rules and procedures for notifying the relevant persons of a personal data breach. The notification sets out the requirements and details of the data controller’s obligations regarding notification to the PDPC Office and/or the data subject in the event of a data breach. The Thai Cabinet has recently approved the principles of the Draft Royal Decree which will exempt three categories of personal data processing activities from compliance obligations under the Thai Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), namely, (a) public security and taxation, (b) public interests and international cooperation, and (c) legal proceedings and relevant cooperation.
